Your Real Estate Insider: You never know what your going to find

You never know what your going to find

A few months ago I was finishing up a house for the final inspection. I had a few things to do in the crawl space. I was bent over walking through the crawl space when I tripped over something under the plastic. I pulled up the plastic and was very surprised what I had found. I expected to find some kind of construction debris, a tool left by a subcontractor, or possibly a clump of dirt that somehow didn't get spread out. Instead I found a huge snapping turtle! I was quite freaked out. The crawl space had been sealed up for a long time so I have no idea how he made it down there. I decided to do what any grown man would do, I called my dad to come get it out. I took these pictures of the turtle, please enjoy! Have you found anything interesting in a crawl space or anywhere else? Please let me know.

Thanks

Walter,

Isn't it great thatyou found that turtle. I'm sure that he would have died eventually, being stuck under the plastic. You never know what the next day wll bring when you're in real estate.

This is great. The turtle is probably mad you removed it from it's home. Thanks for sharing.

That's cool!  I usually find really gross looking, huge spiders!

Walter, I'm glad to see that it's not just home inspectors finding all the fun stuff.

No wonder the turtle "snapped"!  I'd be a bit cranky, too, if I was sealed up in a crawl space for God know's how long.  Love that you called daddy in to check it out, though.  :)

Great story. All I ever find is empty cans and dead mice. At least your story had a happy ending.

It is pretty funny looking back, but that little guy was not happy. After we brought him up he went straight for the woods!

I'm so glad you came to the critter's rescue...I really admire turtles.

GOOD MORNING AARON!  I've only found illegal things in a crawl space.  Thank goodness your dad answered his phone! I wouldn't have picked him up either!  -- Gabrielle
