Education Committee

I was recently asked to join the Education Committee for the Eastern Panhandle Board of REALTORS. I have been considering getting involved with my local board by volunteering for a committee. What could be a better than contributing to the Realtor Education. Today was my first meeting. Although I am just getting my feet wet, its exciting to see how much the committee already has planned. If you are looking for information about EPBR education check out the website www.epbr.net/education.shtml It is updated constantly with new education opportunities. If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks Aaron

Last year the home show had about 4,000 visitors, and we are expecting a great turnout this year also. Our Booth will be near GNC, close to the food court. I will be around all weekend but my scheduled booth times are Friday 12-2 and Sunday 3-close. Come out and see me. Thanks Aaron

SFR Designation

I recently recieved my SFR Designation. Watching the market change and seeing client after client needing help work through the housing crisis. I started working with short sale sellers and buyers, to help people through the process. It didn't take long to figure out that this is a difficult and scary process for everyone involved. I learned more taking the classes and webinars for the SFR designation than I did in over a year working through the process. It was one of the best decisions I have made as a agent. If you need help with your short sale or foreclosure, give me a call. Thanks Aaron

Way to go Vince!

I don't typically keep up with whats going on in Hollywood, but recently i learned that actor Vince Vaughn married a REALTOR. I thought this was really cool. After a little research I also learned that he will be starring in a movie named "Realtors" slated for release next year. This will give us some desperately needed entertainment. Way to go Vince!

Focus on the Outcome, not the Income

I just finished a continuing education class about helping a buyer prepare for the buying process. There was lots of good information but there was one thing that really stuck with me. My instructor said focus on Outcome, not Income. Its true that we all work for the money, but that cant be the only reason. If you don't believe in real estate as an investment, you shouldn't be in real estate as a profession. Most agents I know got into real estate because they love the feeling of helping someone reach their dream of home ownership. The best feeling you can possibly have(at work) is handing someone the keys to their new home. I get chills every time. Its natural to let yourself get discouraged in a down market but never forget whats really important. If you love what you do, the money will follow.

Agent Open House VS Client Open House

I am trying to figure out what kind of open house is the most effective. The pros of the Agent Open House is typically put them on during the week, easier to get agents to your house than clients, Great way to get feedback on your listing. The pros of Client Open House is possiblity of finding new clients to work with, Help build  your contact lists for future clients. If you are only going to have one, which is the best?

Home Show advice?

Home Show Advice

At the beginning of the year I wrote a post about participating in my first ever home show. As the year comes to a close we are starting the preperation for this years home show. Last year I was able to fly under the radar, I did some to help set up, I worked a few hours in the booth and I was done. This year my luck has changed. At todays sales meeting I was picked to co-chair the home show committee. I am lucky enough to be working with two other Realtors that are great friends. I am actually a little excited about this opportunity. Does anyone have some good ideas about making for a successful home show. I would like all the the help I can get. Thanks
